Overview
This desktop PC project is a personal experiment in building a powerful computer using salvaged and secondhand parts. It features an Intel i7-6700 processor, GTX 970 graphics card, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, and a mix of two SSDs and one HDD for storage. The custom case, made from welded metal frames wrapped in electrical tape, gives it a rugged, industrial look. To complete the build, I even had to make a custom bracket for the CPU cooler to fit properly. This project reflects my interest in creating something unique, functional, and cost-effective, while sharpening my skills in PC building.
Approach
To keep costs low and make something truly unique, I sourced parts from used markets and salvaged what I could. Building the case from scratch with welded metal was a key challenge, and I used electrical tape for added insulation and a distinctive look. When the CPU cooler didn’t fit with the standard mounting, I created a custom bracket to secure it, showing my ability to adapt and solve unexpected issues. Each component was chosen carefully for compatibility and cooling efficiency. This project highlights my resourcefulness, attention to detail, and ability to work with limited resources.
